Los-Lunas
is a small town in Valencia County in central New Mexico. As of 2008, the estimated population was 23,867 and it serves as the county seat. Los Lunas is considered part of the Albuquerque metropolitan area. It's only about 20 miles south of the city, nestled in a somewhat rural setting just off Interstate 25. It's mostly a "bedroom community" with many people commuting to Albuquerque for work, but it's diverse in its culture, economy, architecture, scenery, recreations and history. The village is set along the Rio Grande River, with beautiful mountain views in the background. There are numerous restaurants and shops in town, as well as a wide range of housing, from new subdivisions to 100-year-old adobe homes. A new 27-hole championship golf course is also located nearby. Los Lunas holds several special events throughout the year. Among them are annual events such as the St. Patricks Day Balloon Rally, the 4th of July Parade, celebration and fireworks display at Daniel Fernandez Park, and the Holiday Electric Light Parade down Main Street. Of course, just a short drive takes you to Albuquerque's many exciting attractions, events, shopping, galleries and museums. Los Lunas has the advantages of the city, but the peace and quiet of the country.

North Central New Mexico has a climate that is usually sunny and dry with relatively low humidity. Brilliant sunshine defines the region, averaging more than 300 days a year. At times there are periods of mid and high-level cloudiness. Extended cloudiness is rare. The region has four distinct seasons, but the heat and cold are mild compared to the extremes that occur more commonly in other parts of the country. Occasional snowfalls are possible but usually melts by mid-afternoon. Spring is unsettled, often windy and cool, but is the driest time of the year. Summer daytime highs range from the upper 80s to the upper 90's, and low 60s to low 70s overnight. North Central New Mexico's climate is classified as arid.
